“Sister Wendy Beckett has transformed public appreciation of art through her astonishing knowledge, insight and passion for painting and painters.” This set includes Sister Wendy's Story of Painting, Sister Wendy's Odyssey, and Sister Wendy's Grand Tour. Simultaneously delightful and scholarly--this is a must have for anyone interested in art history.

  • Exit Through the Gift Shop
    Exit Through the Gift Shop
When British stencil artist Banksy traveled to Los Angeles to work, he came across obscure French filmmaker Thierry Guetta and his badly organized collection of videotapes involving the activities of graffiti artists. Inspired, Banksy assembled them with new footage to create this talked-about documentary, and the result is a mind-boggling and odd film (so strange as to be thought a hoax by some) about outsider artists and the definition of art itself.
  • The Impressionists

“A Look at the RTA Skill Wheel” - Sunday, Sept. 16th at 2 PM

(click photo for larger image)On Sunday, September 16th, OAC ‘Art Speaks’ will welcome Charles Moore of Rehabilitation Through The Arts (RTA).

“RTA's mission is to use the transformative power of the arts to develop social and cognitive skills that prisoners need for successful reintegration into the community. RTA also seeks to raise public awareness of the humanity behind prison walls.”

The Ossining Arts Council (OAC) ( www.ossiningartscouncil.org ) recently worked with RTA on it’s splendid exhibit, “Images From Behind Prison Wall” that featured artwork by participants in five correctional facilities.

At our ‘Art Speaks’ program, Charles Moore will talk about the relationship between RTA activities and the skills learned from them. RTA alumnus Takia Parham (Judah) will join Charles to share her experiences with us.

The program will take place at the OAC Steamer Firehouse, 117 Main St., 2nd Floor, Ossining, NY 10562. Admission is FREE. Light refreshments will be served. Donations are welcome.
