Stanton MacDonals Wright: A Proclamation About Color

Stanton MacDonald-Wright - Synchromy in Green and Orange - 1916 - oil on canvas – Walker Art Center (click photo for larger image)With Morgan Russell (1886-1953), Stanton MacDonald Wright (1890-1973) founded Synchromism, which proclaimed color to be the basis of expression in painting. Although the movement was short-lived, it proved to be the first abstract art movement developed by American artists.
