“Sister Wendy Beckett has transformed public appreciation of art through her astonishing knowledge, insight and passion for painting and painters.” This set includes Sister Wendy's Story of Painting, Sister Wendy's Odyssey, and Sister Wendy's Grand Tour. • Exit Through the Gift Shop
    Exit Through the Gift Shop
When British stencil artist Banksy traveled to Los Angeles to work, he came across obscure French filmmaker Thierry Guetta and his badly organized collection of videotapes involving the activities of graffiti artists. Inspired, Banksy assembled them with new footage to create this talked-about documentary, and the result is a mind-boggling and odd film (so strange as to be thought a hoax by some) about outsider artists and the definition of art itself.
  • The Impressionists

Frida Kahlo (1907-1954) was born an imaginative storyteller, who revealed (and sometimes rearranged) the most intimate stories of her life on canvas—for all to see. The courage that it took for Frida to share her life of pain and suffering (both personal and emotional) has always been much admired. However, her tumultuous relationships with Diego Rivera and other revolutionaries, her unconventional lifestyle choices, and her colorful, captivating persona tended to overshadow her talents as a painter. Although her importance as a serious artist has finally been recognized, there has still been little attention paid to Frida’s love of the natural world—until now. She possessed a deep appreciation for the loveliness and multiplicity of nature—which inspired her garden and studio at the Blue House (Frida’s lifelong home) and her paintings. This sensibility will be the subject of an upcoming exhibition at The New York Botanical Garden, entitled FRIDA KAHLO - ART - GARDEN - LIFE (opening May 16, 2015). This presentation will prepare you well for this limited engagement, by surveying the work of Frida Kahlo in the context of her affection for—and deep connections with—the natural world. Don’t miss it!

Larchmont Temple 75 Larchmont Avenue, Larchmont 10538 – Parking on Willow or Larchmont

The Exhibit Frida Kahlo: Art – Garden – Life will run from May 16 – November 1 at the New York Botanical Garden
