Italy’s Artistic Upstart, the Maxxi Museum, Strives to Make a Splash

The national museum for art of the 21st century in Rome, called the Maxxi, hopes to become a global player in contemporary art. (click photo for larger image)Italian artists haven’t ever had it easy. Competing with some of the most famous and outstanding Roman, Renaissance, Mannerist and Baroque masterpieces isn’t easy!
