Edward Coley Burne-Jones (1833–1898) was one of the leading painters and designers of late 19th-century England. His romantic paintings using medieval imagery were among the last creations of the Pre-Raphaelite style. A more significant influence stems from his dedication to the revival of the “artist-craftsman” ideal, which was so critical to the development of 20th-century industrial design.
