“Sister Wendy Beckett has transformed public appreciation of art through her astonishing knowledge, insight and passion for painting and painters.” This set includes Sister Wendy's Story of Painting, Sister Wendy's Odyssey, and Sister Wendy's Grand Tour. • Exit Through the Gift Shop
    Exit Through the Gift Shop
When British stencil artist Banksy traveled to Los Angeles to work, he came across obscure French filmmaker Thierry Guetta and his badly organized collection of videotapes involving the activities of graffiti artists. Inspired, Banksy assembled them with new footage to create this talked-about documentary, and the result is a mind-boggling and odd film (so strange as to be thought a hoax by some) about outsider artists and the definition of art itself.
  • The Impressionists

Featured Artist Friday: Phyllis A. Cumbie

Phyllis A. Cumbie“I entered nursing the day after I graduated from High School and for the next 46 years I enjoyed going to work every day.  However, my entire life was dedicated to medicine. When I was young, I traveled a lot and have been in all 50 states. I was fortunate that I was able to find work easily.

"When I retired in 2006, I wanted to do anything not related to medicine. I volunteered to be a docent at the Huntington Library and joined the Santa Anita Daughters of the American Revolution, the Arcadia Travelers, and a canasta group that meets once monthly. But I wanted to do something more creative. I took a class in calligraphy and started making scrapbooks. After a couple of years, I decided I wanted to paint.

We signed up and took two semesters of watercolor classes.  She got frustrated because she had used oil paints before and wanted to go back to oil painting.  The next semester we signed up for an oil painting class. This is my second year painting with oil paints and I am really enjoying the media.  I only paint pictures from photographs that I have taken.”
